Bats! Why in the world would we be thankful for Bats?
Without them we would see a lot more insects than we currently do already because they feed upon 1,200 insects per hour and eat their own body weight in insects during one night!
Secondly, they help disperse seeds and provide pollination for tropical fruits we often enjoy like mangoes, figs and bananas! Not to mention, in deserts, they ensure pollination of cacti and agave which is used in tequila!
Last, their saliva has been helping in the medical field with curing blood clots!
Keep in mind that Bats are usually more afraid of you then you are of them!
Let these fabulous creatures continue helping out the human population in all their different ways!
The sad news is, there is a fungus that kills them in caves known as “White Nose Syndrome.”
